Anxiety (also called angst or worry) is a psychological and physiological state characterized by somatic, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral components. It is the displeasing feeling of fear and concern.

Whilst depression is usually developed with thinking too much about the past, anxiety is generally brought about by too much thinking about the future, and ‘perceived’ future events. Yoga helps you to be neither too much in the past or future as it helps you to be just in the now.

What is the symptom trying to tell you?

Time for some present time yoga! With far too much thinking about the future, what needs to be done, or what may or may not happen, you perhaps need to refocus yourself on yourself and what is going on for you in the present moment. Look around you and start practicing looking at your surroundings with new eyes. Anxiety sometimes borders with stress symptoms so take some time out to walk in nature and breathe some fabulous mind calming breaths. With being too much in your head and over stimulating the higher chakras, you ‘now’ need to be grounded and send the energy downwards to stimulate your lower chakras – certainly the Muladhara Chakra. Being content and happy with you in every moment is very important for your whole health and wellbeing, and becoming more grounded is key.
