Osteoporosis (“porous bones”, from Greek: οστούν/ ostoun meaning “bone” and πόρος/ poros meaning “pore”) is a condition that affects the bones, causing them to become weak and fragile and more likely to break (fracture).

Bone density generally declines from the age of 35yrs as part of the natural aging process; however there is much you can do to decrease the amount of decline. Strengthening postures (resistance training) and deep breathing techniques, along with visualisations can certainly improve your overall bone density and condition.

What is the symptom trying to tell you?

Being the densest part of our physical body, the bones are part of a very important structure that holds up our body – the skeleton. They relate directly to our root chakra (Muladhara) and so have a strong link to family and security issues. Past hurts and frustrations can embed themselves into the bones, any guilt and/or unresolved family issues can manifest there. Believing that you are worthy and strong is important now, and the time to release these old hurts has come, before the ‘symptom’ worsens. Do some inner work to heal yourself on a deep level. Yoga, of course will help you with this.
